South Carolina Offers Great Scholarship Programs! by Natasha Bright
South Carolina has been hit hard by the current recession. At the same time, it realizes its hope is in educating its citizens. So it applies the revenues from its state lottery to create a series of grants and scholarships to help its students meet the costs of a higher education. In turn, this money is administered by the SC Commission of Higher Education as well as its Department of Education.
The main grant benefiting from the lottery is the Tuition Assistance Program. It requires filling out a FASFA application and applying for other forms of financial assistance, both regional and national. If a student goes full-time, he or she will get $900. If the student can only go on a part time basis, he or she gets $75 per credit hour.
